Former Davenport Child Actress Denise Nickerson Dies At 62

A former Davenport resident well known for her role as gum chewing, blueberry turning Violet Beauregarde in the 1971 version of "Willie Wonka" has died at age 62.

Denise Nickerson suffered a stroke in 2018 and was then placed in rehab. A Facebook posting from her son stated the decided to cease life support.

Nickerson was a well-known child actress who also appeared on The Electric Company, The Brady Bunch and Flipper. She was also a regular on several daytime dramas that included Search for Tomorrow and Dark Shadows in the 1960's and 1970's.
