Can I See Some ID?

U.S. Customs and Border Protection confirmed that the requested to see identification from passengers landing at a New York airport Wednesday, searching for an illegal alien who had a deportation order to leave the United States. It turned out the person they were looking for was not on the flight from San Francisco.

The outrage was immediate. How could the government ask to see your ID?

Just in passing, did not every single passenger have to show identification at the airport before getting on the plane?
